Final Voiceover

Hey guys!

So we finished the final voiceover for our film! Not going to lie, recording that took so many tries even though I was reading it at the same time. It was extremely hard because I had to find the right tone of voice to  speak in at certain parts.

I sent one version to Raisa to insert into the opening, but after listening it sounded way to unatural so I needed tofilm it again in more of a relaxed tone. Adding the voiceover truly added a lot to our opening. We made it so you really understand what was happening in the main characters life and help make it an easy plot to follow along.

Here is one part of the voiceover:

Finding music

Hey guys!

Now that Andrea and Raisa have edited our film opening, we needed to find copyright free music to  put in the background of our film. We decided that we were going to each send one or two songs that we found in our group chat and would pick the one that fits best.

We looked on a website called "Bensound" this website has over thousands of royalty free music. We were looking for a kind of adventurous song that has a climax. Our film does begin with and adventurous aesthetic, so weneeded to find something that fit that. After researching multiple songs, we found a instrumental song under the rock section of the website. The song is called "going higher" and surprsingly it actually fits our theme of rising above and working towards your dreams.

We decided are are going to have the song play for about the first minute of the film. That is while the voiceover is going on so it will add something more to the film.

This is the song! Take a listen:

Group Reunion!

Hey guys! Now that the filming is done, Andrea, Raisa, and I decided to have a group facetime call to  discuss how we want to edit everything and clear things up before the editing process actually begins.

It was great actually speaking to each other because we've been texting throughout all of this so being on the phone made everything easier. We caught up and they loved all the shots I filmed! Andrea is going to begin editing tomorrow andn then share it with Raisa. It was great catching up with them!

Voiceover

Hey guys! so we came up with a really good idea for our film opening. Since there isnt hardly any dialogue in our film, we decided to do a voiceover to introduce our main character Mia! We thought that this was a good way to keep our audience amused and left them wanting to find out more.

We did some research on different films that use voiceovers to introduce characters to help us sort of get an idea that will guide us on what to do. I found this from a website:

After researching we found some films that use voiceovers to introduce main characters. To be specific, the 2004 film Mean Girls uses voiceovers to introduce Cady Heron. Heres a visual example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QTXzM3wPRw
Usuing this in our film will help the audience know who Mia is and what the film is going to be about, We wrote a rought draft for our voiceover and here it is:

It's time to Film!

Hey guys! the time has come we FINALLY filmed our opening. I actually thought this day wouldn't come because of everything that happened. But we figured everything out and made it work.

So since I play the role of Mia who is the main character, I did all of the filming. Raisa and Andrea will be editing. I also got lucky because my brother was home to help film. To film, I wanted to use his professional camera, but unfortunately he left it at school in Indiana. So instead we used my Iphone 8+ to film. The quality is still great, but obviously a real camera would've been better.

We began filming around 6:45-7 in the evening so we could get the sunset and a good golden hour lighting. Filming was quite easy because we knew exactly what we needed to do and just banged it out in a good amount of time!  Not going to lie, this was the first time I actually put real clothes on and looked presentable throughout this whole quarentine process. It felt kind of good!

While filming I kept in touch with Raisa and Andrea showing them what I was doing and if there was any problems. Luckily, there wasn't and we got evrything we needed! I cant wait for them to start editing!

Heres a clip of some raw footage from filming:
