Representation Analysis

In the 2006 advertisement for the Axe Body spray commercial, there is a lot of representation shown. The advertisement contains multiple women around the age of 20 years old, who are all in bikinis. They are all separated by hair color such as blonde and brunette. These women are represented from their body type and their race. All of the girls running toward the single man had bodies that were extremely in shape and appealing to men. Men would have a good effect upon viewing this commercial. The women shape mens expectations for having a killer body or blonde hair and blue eyes, automatically attracting men. Although this advertisement is beneficial for men, it is not a good representation for women. This can label women for only being pretty or attractive to men if they are skinny and tan. This can make women fill insecure and does not represent them well.

The advertisement for H&M represents many different races, ethnicities, and ages. It ranges in different ethnicities such as people who are Asian, African American, White, etc. The ages range from someone who is a young child all the way to someone who is elderly. It shows all the imperfections people have and that everyone is different and that it's okay to be different. There are a variety of people shown to ones who are overweight and ones who are part of the LGBTQ community. Overall, this advertisement is captivating to all viewers and makes each one feel welcomed and good about themselves in general.
